Memories
Sara Farrell
Dan always used to unlock my office door for me each morning. It was really nice to come in and not have to drop all of my stuff to open my door, but even nicer to know that someone had already been thinking about me and done something nice for me before I even arrived at work!
Probably the best memories for me are the many heartfelt conversations I had with Dan over the years. He was always willing to take the time to really listen, regardless of what he had going on in his own life. There were days that he cornered me in my office when he could just sense that something was bothering me and offered to listen or to help if he could...and he really meant it! Dan was one of the most caring, giving, and thoughtful people I have ever known.

Dan was one of my instructors. So I was a student here at Coe. And, oi, I think I actually had statistics with him.
One of the things that I most enjoy about my relationship with Dan is that we were always going back and forth between one another and making jokes about each other at each others' expense. And those could be about anything. And that's what really... You know, he was always looking to, you know, bring light to a situation, or to try to put a smile on somebody's face.
Dan and I were oftentimes the first two people in the psychology department in the mornings so we had lots of opportunities to tell stories or share about, he'd tell me about a pod cast, or we'd talk about his family or my family. And that's the thing. He would tell his students the same things he'd tell his colleague, he'd tell us. He was just, he was so proud of his friends, so proud of his family and everything that his family had accomplished.
You know, I think that's one of the things that made Dan very, very unique was just his ... his genuine interest in other people.
